Utah Meteor lights up early morning sky . 18th 11th 09.

SALT LAKE CITY — A fast-moving meteor lit up the night skies over most of Utah just after midnight Wednesday. Moments later, the phones lit up at KSL as people across the state called to tell us what they saw and ask what it was. Scientists are calling it a “remarkable midnight fireball.” The source of all the excitement was basically a rock, falling from space. In addition to KSL, witnesses to the meteor quickly began call 911. “I’m currently driving, but I just saw a giant blue flash in the sky, and it came down into the city,” a caller from Ogden said. A caller in Bountiful told dispatchers, “It flashed from the west, and it lit up the whole freakin’ neighborhood.” A Salt Lake City caller said, “Ma’am, I’m not kidding you. I am terrified.” Professor David Kieda is chair of the University of Utah’s astronomy department. He said the energy of the meteor coming into Earth’s atmosphere was so powerful it has to be measured in Terawatts. “It’s almost like the consumption of the United States all at once. It was a fraction of a second,” Kieda said. When a meteor enters the atmosphere, it gives off a lot of heat and light. Folks at the Clark Planetarium say this rock was big–between the size of a microwave and washer-dryer unit. “I mean this thing lit up the sky, literally. It was like daylight.” – Patrick Wiggins, NASA Solar Ambassador At exactly 12:07, people from all over the western United States watched as the bolide meteor crashed into Earth’s atmosphere. In some …
CLOSE UFO ORB, June 17, 2010, PA – Plus more good stuff

They buzz us while we skywatch. When I locate the color footage shot at same time as the plane flying over–I’ll post it (got to be around hard drive somewhere–& NO my cam isn’t broke). Sorry for the bad camera work, btw–hard to run two cams at once. The color footage isn’t spectacular anyway since it can’t catch as much light as the nightvision scope. LINK TO SCIENCE CHANNEL SHOW: www.youtube.com Futile to try & sneak up on them because they know EXACTLY where we are at all times. These ARE what expand and become the balls of light that hover or fly silently through the air in colors of orange, yellow, red/orange, white & variations. We’re not sure if they ARE the entities or just what they travel in… The ships that come out after they flareup seem like sure energy to nightvision scopes & strong binocs can see shape changing real time. Whose crafts are these? We don’t know. Perhaps more than one kind of space traveler uses this method of travel to visit PLANET ZOO. All we know is that there must be tons of them around the world. Pictures showing these transparent looking round orbs showing up all over… UFO reports being filed online on sights like MUFON and NUFORC saying similar things: fireballs, balls of light, morphing crafts, UFOs imitating our aircraft lights–most of the time completely SILENT. Most of us online comparing notes have noticed a dramatic decrease in the number of UFOs in our areas for about the past month. Don’t know why. The HUM sound is still …

(CNN) — Authorities in several Midwestern states were flooded Wednesday night with reports of a gigantic fireball lighting up the sky, the National Weather Service said. The fireball was visible for about 15 minutes beginning about 10 pm, said the National Weather Service in Sullivan, Wisconsin, just west of Milwaukee. “The fireball was seen over the northern sky, moving from west to east,” said the NWS in the Quad Cities area, which includes parts of Iowa and Illinois. “Well before it reached the horizon, it broke up into smaller pieces and was lost from sight,” the service said. “Several reports of a prolonged sonic boom were received from areas north of Highway 20, along with shaking of homes, trees and various other objects including wind chimes,” it said. It said the fireball was seen across parts of Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. CNN affiliate WISN-TV said that people in Ohio also saw it. Video from WISN showed a massive ball of light exploding across the sky. The Doppler Radar from the Quad Cities weather service appeared to capture a portion of the smoke trail from the fireball at just after 10 pm, the NWS said. It appears as a thin line extending across portions of Grant and Iowa Counties in Wisconsin. There has been no official determination as to what caused the fireball, the NWS in Sullivan said. However, it said there is a meteor shower called Gamma Virginids that occurs from April 4 to April 21, with peak activity expected on Wednesday and …

CCTV: footage of a meteor spotted over the skies of Gauteng, South Africa on the 21st of November 2009 Local news story: Johannesburg and Pretoria residents have come forward, claiming they spotted a meteor in the skies on Saturday night. People in Gauteng saw the bright light at around 11pm on Saturday night, heading towards the north of Pretoria. We saw this big green ball of fire. More..More..it kind of came out of the sky, out of the blue, one resident said. There was sudden flash. Like an orange stripe in the sky, followed by a very bright explosion where the sky lit up as if it was daytime, another explained. Astronomers and scientists are still trying to find out where the meteor landed. Ronnie McKenzie collects meteorites and said something like this is very rare. I would say it probably happens around two or three times a year around the world, he said. Less..

More footage here – www.youtube.com Correction- the part with the police car is not from africa, it was taken in the US on Nov. 18th, 2009. Late on Saturday night, 2009 November 21, a very bright meteor was seen flashing across the sky from the northern parts of South Africa. Tim Cooper, Director of the ASSA Comet & Meteor Section, estimates that the apparent magnitude of the meteorite was -18. “I think it is highly likely it hit the ground somewhere north of our borders,” Tim writes. He notes that the most northerly sighting came from north of Gweru, Zimbabwe. “Reports also from as far west as Rustenburg, and as far east as Ezulwini, Swaziland” were received, he writes. The size of the meteorite has been estimated as that of a washing machine. Kos Coronaios has received several reports all of which describe something bright, seen around 23:00, moving from east to west (or south-east to north-west). One report Kos received even notes that a rumbling sound was heard, with trembles that caused paint to fall off a wall! He writes: “Reports of the event on Saturday (21/11) evening received so far this morning from: Pretoria, Tzaneen, Potgietesrus, Polokwane, Louis Trichardt, Levubu, Vivo, Alldays. “All consistent with a bright flash of light that was visible with no sound (except from the Vivo, Alldays region). Most sites were partly overcast in Louis Trichardt and from my location it was completely overcast with drizzle and all we saw was a bright light lasting perhaps a …
